Runaway With Me

Tonight was a bit crazy around here. I was trying to clean up the kitchen. Jenna was riding her scooter around the huge kitchen island. Emma was chasing her. Ryan was encouraging the dogs to chase him around the house, barking all the way. I suddenly had a strong urge to runaway somewhere.

Okay, not really. Well, maybe a little bit, but not for very long.

But I got to thinking about all the wonderful women I've met in virtual reality and whom I'd love to meet in real reality (I just coined a new term-- look for it on Wikipedia later.) Maybe we could all runaway together and actually MEET!

The wheels started turning this morning when coincidentally, or not so coincidentally, I discovered two different blogs were going to go on cruises. The first is one I don't read very often but many people do, My Charming Kids. MckMama is planning on going on a cruise in January and inviting her readers to go with her. Then I saw that The SITS Girls are thinking about going on a cruise next March.

I want to meet many of my readers and those readers are wanting to meet their readers-- what a nightmare to coordinate! But what if we all decided to go on one of those cruises, or we planned our own get together? How awesome would THAT be???

So tell me what you think? Am I just plan crazy? Okay, we know I'm crazy, but is this idea crazy? I've added a poll at the top of the left sidebar.

Oh, and if you pick a cruise, I'll start working out now so I'm not mistaken for a whale that has thrown itself up on the cruise ship deck and cause a commotion that will embarrass us all.

I'm doing the MckCruise in January, but regardless of what happens, I think it's awesome for people who know each other online to meet in person if the chance presents itself. I've belonged to online communities since 2000, and we have gotten together several times, throughout the states, and it's always wonderful!

The good thing about picking a major get-together, is that it's "one trip fits all"... Most of us can't afford two get-togethers in one year (or ten, LOL!).

You're NOT crazy, you're normal, well, as normal as I am. Oh boy...
:o)

I think the cruise idea etc is a great one and I reckon it will become a long term, popular fad.

I'd LOVE to go on a cruise but it's out of my budget. But then again more achievable than anything else as I don't live in the US. The cruise is probably more internationally accessible.

At the end of most of your posts I laugh out loud, and always plan to leave a comment about it but never seem to have time so: you are HILARIOUS. That whale comment is great!

Hey thanks so much for the visit! Oh if only I could get away too. A nice cruise sounds much better than the freezing snow right now.

I'd love to get away. I'm thinking of doing BlogHer in July in Chicago. It's a bit more difficult to get time off in March and January (when I think the MckMamam cruise is happening). Keep us updated!

Hmmm...it is an interesting idea, for sure! Not sure if I could get away for that long or afford it, though. Can't we just meet up at your house and have a sleepover? LOL!!! That way, none of us will have to work out! Ha!!

I'm up for a sleepover at your place (but only if we can make a big batch of crack bars)!

In reality, though I love the idea of a get-together I doubt it's in the cards for me anytime soon. Besides, I think we've got a better shot on getting on The Amazing Race if we've never met, right? More possible drama!

Hi its me the lurker again. lol I have been an internet user for around 15 years and have met probably 20/25 of dear internet friends from here as well as Australia. We have met at each others houses, gone to a Haunted Cave in Tenn. and always had a ball. Its been a few years but these people have been and still remain my friends.
I think you have a great idea and I think you will love the friends that you make.
I have found that if you try to involve a lot of people and make the plans far in advance its harder to get everyone there, but smaller groups in a shorter amount of time works great.
Good Luck

I would love to meet all of my friends I've made.

AND I love to cruise, however we are doing one in two summers. (two older sons, one graduation this year and a wedding next year so I had to put the cruise off till june 2011). I've also said I'd love for everyone to go, the more the merrier.

Keep me posted on whatever you plan. I thought I heard you were doing a roadtrip this summer?

I'm in! I'm in! But I really want to do our OWN cruise (or trip or whatever.) I do read MckMama's blog but to be completely honest, she intimidates me. Just a little too perfect for my style. I prefer those of us who are deeply flawed! (I can't imagine feeding my kids such incrediby healthy, organic foods. In our house, the more preservatives, the better!) If you put something together, I'll really try to make it (and remember we're adopting #4 this summer so give me plenty of warning.)

Oh my goodness, I would love to get together and meet. Let me ask, is this a kid free trip, cause that would be my only hang up, I couldn't leave them too long, hubby works long hours and I would miss them...okay, stop laughing. A cruise would be fantastic, or a couple other ideas could be maybe NYC, we had so much fun there, or maybe FL, I have found this great place in Orlando, i.e. 4 bedroom pool home for rent for $129 a night, we could get a couple families in each house..and then maybe do Disney? What do you think? I'd be happy to help plan anything we decide. Or the sleepover at your house is a great idea too!!!!

I don't know this MckMama, so I probably won't go cruising with her. Although there are 100's of people I don't know when I go cruising so I don't know why that would matter. :}

The SITS cruise is definitely something I want to do. I love those ladies!

But if I were invited to something sooner, and enticed with crackbars I might be able to make arrangements. Oh heck, even without the crackbars I would meet ya'!

I have said that all along, but I would love to do our own thing, but that is because since we are not finished with our adoption yet, I can't afford CR*P!! right now! But I would love to meet in the middle, or something!!! And shut up girl you do not look like a friggin whale!!!! Your beautiful.

Love,Kristy

why did that publish twice? Am I too impatient? Anyway, having a cruise for your reader is a GREAT way to have stalkers. Stalkers are so IN right now. Angelina Jolie ain't got nuthin' on you now!!

That sounds fun. I actually have a friend that lives in Kansas City and she wants me to come visit. I was like, hmmmmm Denise lives near you. I might have to do lunch with her while I'm there.

While it's a nice thought, it's quite the pipe dream here. It would just never happen. Unless everyone wants to come to Seattle. ;0P
