Coming Undone

Tomorrow is Trace's birthday. My sweet little baby boy is turning 22. {How did that happen?} After much interrogation, Trace finally told Cody that he wanted an ice cream cake so tonight Cody, Jenna, Gauge, Ryan, Emma and I went to Dairy Queen to order his mint chip ice cream cake. And, of course, while we were there we had to get some ice cream for us too.

Jenna got a shake and Ryan and Gauge got chocolate dipped ice cream cones. I didn't trust Emma with an ice cream cone so I got a hot fudge sundae for the two of us to share. She got her own spoon and everything. Sounds good, no?

No, she wanted Ryan's ice cream cone which he good naturedly handed over in exchange for the hot fudge sundae. But small problem, Emma's notorious for dropping and throwing food on the floor. I didn't trust her to hold the cone so I let her hold it while I held the bottom. Sounds good, no?

No. She wanted to hold it herself. I figured she'd realize that Mommy was holding it but she got to eat ice cream so it was okay.

But this is Emma we're talking about people. What was I thinking?

The ice cream cone got caught in a tug of war. Guess who lost?

The ice cream cone. But I had eaten it down to the cone part so I gave in and let her hold it.

It's the little things in life that make us happy. And it's the little wars that give me gray hair. Good thing I'm going to get my hair colored tomorrow. And yes, that's ice cream in her hair.

I am so sorry but I busted out laughing when I saw that first pic of Emma. She is too much!

Sounds like your family is having fun with Cody and Gauge around...

no one trusts me with an ice cream cone either! Cute pics.Only a "real" mom takes those kind of pics! Way too cute, thanks for sharing.

I just love thinking about you - mid-tantrum - pausing to pick up the camera and thinking "this is gonna be great on my blog". You were thinking that, right? 'Cause that's totally what I would've been thinking.

Here is a trick I learned..and now that you know Emma will eat a cone...next time have them only fill it up to the cone line!

She does have determination, tho!

Driving to DQ,maybe $2.00 in gas.
Cost of one DQ dip cone $3.00
Pictures of Emma throwing a tantrum over holding said cone....................PRICELESS!!
Only you were prepared with camera, gotta love it.

i'm starting to think Emma and Josie were separated at birth-both girls will fight to the death for the strangest things!

I'm constantly reminding myself to pick and choose what I want to fight over. My SIL seems to think I should fight her over everything-then I remind her that she's married and has someone to take over when she's hit her limit!

So- yeah-the kid strips down to her pull-up and maybe a shirt as soon as we walk in the door. She still wants her blankie nearby at all times. And you know-i fought her over probably 10 other things before leaving the house this morning-so there, SIL!

Happy Mother's Day Denise! Hope you get treated special like you deserve!

That reminds me that I sometimes act like that when I don't get my way. It's way cuter on her!
