Twenty Five Random Things

I was tagged on Facebook to write 25 Random things about me. Like the whole world doesn't know pretty much everything about me anyway. How I am supposed to come up with 25 more things???? And more importantly, if I'm going to sweat over this list then I'm multipurposing it on my blog.

So here we go! *** yawn****

1) I'm sitting here typing in wet pants. I'll leave you guessing how they got that way. (It is random)

2) I started a new writing class this week appropriately titled Memoir Writing. Guess its time to get back to work.

3) I think I'm done adopting but I keep getting a feeling that God isn't done with me adopting.

4) Julia just got her hair cut and straightened by a flat iron. It really doesn't involve me, or does it? Guess who will be flat ironing her hair all the time now?

5) Emma is a Holy Terror in public now. I took her, Ryan and Jenna to the mall play area for 30 minutes while Julia got her hair cut and I needed a Valium when I left. (again, involves me and somewhat random.) I settled for a Red Robin Santa Fe burger and raspberry iced tea.

6) Lest you think that I now have bladder control issues and I begin getting offers from Depends to do reviews on my blog, my wet pant situation is the result of Holy Terror in #5.

7) Thinking, thinking.... still thinking... my Lost obsession has reached new terrifying heights. I may have to admit myself into LOST rehab in the near future, well maybe not until the end of May when I begin suffering withdrawals.

8) Speaking of addictions. my Starbucks habit has dramatically decreased. Lack of funds+ Starbucks costs lots of $$ = Less Starbucks. (Not to worry, I make my own Mocha's every day with my espresso maker and Starbucks Mocha powder.) My brother told me he heard Starbucks is having serious financial difficulties. Now I'm riddled with guilt.

9) Twenty five????? Really???? Okay, how about this, we'll stick to the addictions a little while longer, that should get me rest of the way there. Lately I've craved pita chips. Just plain pita chips. How weird is that?

10) My blogging friend Denise trying to push a new addiction on me by encouraging me to begin watching 24, beginning with Season 1. Do I really NEED a new addiction? Did the NEED for a new addiction ever stop me before?

11) I think I may need bifocals. I'm having a VERY difficult time reading this teeny, tiny print. What is this font anyway? Font size 5??? (The font on the notes page of Facebook is so tiny that I struggled to see it)

12) Ross has got me hooked onto House. I never watched it before until last week and now I have my DVR recording multiple airings a day. The problem is I never have time to watch them.

13) I have had fabric for over 2 years that I'm going to use to make draperies for my dining room but I can't make myself sit down and sew it. (Have you EVER sewn draperies??? Its a pain in the booty.)

14) I'm really tired of cleaning up puppy poop.

15) I'm trying to coordinate and arrange a blogging friend get together sometime in the near future, probably this summer. Who wants to come????

16) I don't get totally offended when people ask me if I'm trying to be like Angelina Jolie, tell me that I AM like Angelina Jolie, tell me that I'm falling behind Angelina Jolie, etc. All I hear is "You look just like Angelina Jolie" to which I smugly respond: Yeah, I know, I hear that all the time.

17) This is to Stephen King, yes, THE Stephen King: Yes, I know I used an adverb (smugly) but felt it was appropriate in this instance. (To everyone else: Steve told me NOT to use adverbs because it cheapened my writing. We had a long conversation in bed one night about it)

18) I like snow. There I said it proudly to the world.

19) Seriously what font size is this??? I need a magnifying glass! There's probably some place on templates, profile, SOMEWHERE to change it but darned if I know where it is. I know, that's not a random fact/thing about. But what about the fact that I struggle to understand Facebook. I just don't get it. Why is someone sending me Lil Patch plants and what the heck do I do with them???

20) I am NOT having an affair with Stephen King so go call all your friends you just called and tell them its not true. He just drops by every night in his book-- On Writing.

21) Some days I wouldn't mind having an affair but don't think I have the time.

22) That said, I'm not sure I'm ready to date anyone. Its seems like so much work. Wasn't there an episode on Sex in the City about this? And if so, which girl from Sex in the City am I? I wanna be Charlotte.

23) Some days I really feel like my life is headed where its supposed to be going, like all the pieces are falling into place and I've found my PURPOSE. Other days, I feel like I've deluded myself.

24) I'm still thinking about getting a tattoo. I just want it to be meaningful so I haven't figured out what to get, or where to place it on my body. I was going get one on my lower back but Trace and Ross forbid it saying that area is a Tr@mp St@mp. Any suggestions?

25) If you're still reading you must be an insomniac. My sympathies. I want to leave you with one last gem, a pearl if you will, one randomly insignificant significant factoid. My children tell me that I snore. I personally doubt the validity of this because I have never HEARD myself snore. However, I think this means that I need my own room at our blogging get together. Oh, and my affair can't be a sleepover.

I do have sleep issues, but that has nothing to do with why I love your blog, and why I read ALL your posts, including this one!

I love lists, and I love "getting to know you" kind of stuff, especially someone else's, LOL!

My husband and I usually prefer diff types of TV shows. He's more into "the guy stuff", while I'm more into shows like CSI, Criminal Minds, and a variety of TCL / Discovery Civilization channels type of stuff. We wanted something we could watch together and both enjoy, though, so we ended up deciding to watch 24, which was already in Season 4 or 5 by then.

We went on Ebay, bought the first 4 Seasons on DVD, and loved them. It was a lil' too intense for my liking, but I appreciated the talent of the show's writers and producers, it was meticulously done.

BTW, Thanks for the homemade chicken soup, I'm feeling better! As for my laptop, the surgeon's verdict: New hard drive. $60, not bad, considering.

Denise, your 25 random are as diverse and comical as your writing style, I really enjoy it!
If I were a SITC person I'd like to be Carrie, but smarter. My DVR is full enough, so no more suggestions.
Wishing you good writing in your new class.

Very interesting list. :) I am also a Lost addict, House addict, and at one time was a combo addict of 24 and Starbuck's esspressos. For me, 24 lost its grasp over my tiny mind at about season four. I was totally looking forward to it but at the time had a third shift job as a casino cocktail waitress. I just could not keep awake for it. Starbucks fell to the wayside when I realized that I was getting horrendous withdrawel headaches when I didn't have it (granted I was drinking roughly six esspressos a day), but that pain cured me.

Have a great day!

Oh...the tatoo. I had played with the idea of a tat for years, but I realized I am just too fickle to stick with one design for the rest of my life. I was VERY close to getting zero from Nightmare Before Christmas about 13 years ago on my shoulder. I got pregnant instead, and thank GOD...because then I changed my mind. :)

Definitely follow the placement advide you do not want the Tr@mp is way over done.

Love your blog. :)

Okay, so why is this not on Facebook yet??

Tramp Stamp? That is too funny to me sister and I may be heading to Panama City, FL this spring break. Party capital of the south. So, Dave asked me would I get a tat while I was there (all exicted). My sister said to tell him we'd get matching tramp stamps.

Katie said she's getting one when she turns 18. I need to tell her to wait until we all get together this summer. :)

We'll find time between school, China, and the beach. We HAVE to!!!

I can't imagine that you have time to peruse Facebook and your
friends blogs, write, and raise 6 kids (it is 6, isn't it?) You are amazing!

I was also tagged and wrote my "25 Things" last night. Of course, they're not as entertaining as yours, but I tried. My gosh, 25 things is a lot of things to come up with. I got stuck at number 13 and had to come back later.

Talk to you soon,
Heather (who is definitely interested in a blogger-friends weekend!)

I have bifocals, but they are progressive type so you can't tell:) My eyes are worse again so I have to make an appt. Sigh. I want a tattoo when I turn 50-- in 2 years--probably on my upper arm and something Celtic maybe. I think that would be cool. I love Starbucks. Let's see-- oh, the mall play area. All my kids would throw fits when we had to leave any play area. No amount of time was EVER enough. I feel your pain.

Please tell me that people don't say those Angelina things to you, not that you don't look like her or anything, but geesh.

Okay I had to stop and comment after #13... Girl, don't you go trying to find time to sew some drapes when you've got 6 kids in the house!! Get yourself over to The Nesting Place and get to window mistreating!! Alright, I can go back and read the rest now...

So cool about writing class!

I love my tattoos. I know they're all permanent and stuff, but so meaningful to me. What about something like a vine w/ your 6 kids names?
Maybe on your leg? Outer thigh?

I'm relating to you on #5. My 2 year old is becoming quite the terror too!
I tried this week to kick my Starbucks addiction. I even pulled out the old coffee pot. It's just not the same....and I wouldn't want Starbucks to suffer, so I think I'll make sure to visit them again tomorrow!
I've also gotten addicted to House this month. It's a great show!

I need bifocals also!! Love your post! I forgot to do the thing with the Lemonde award! Sorry I am a loser!! LOL!
To busy doing homestudy documents. Starting at the beginning of the year is good. I have all my tax stuff out!

Heather, just because I have 6 kids doesn't meant that I do anything with them. Isn't that what the nanny's for? ROFL-- Just a minute, I'm laughing so hard I have to catch my breath.

I really don't "get" Facebook, I really meant what I said. I've been on there a little more lately but... Are you on Facebook?

Denise said...

JD, glad you're feeling better! And thank goodness about your computer. Whew! I could handle $60.

Denise said...

Brenda Jean, yep, its true. If I had a dollar for every time some reference me to A.J... Of course, I just hear I look like her and that ain't half bad.

Erika said...

Oh, and to view the web page fonts better try holding down Ctrl while scrolling your scroll wheel on your mouse. That works for me.

Erika said...

Okay, I feel like a cheesehead for posting three comments on here tonight! But I just saw your comment on my blog and wanted to let you know that I certainly wouldn't mind at all if you added me to your blog roll!!

I don't know what a tramp stamp is and I guess I'm glad. I'd incoprorate your kids' names. Maybe for Emma, Ryan and Jeen, it could be the Chinese and Vietnamese version? Maybe in a circular partern of some sort. I'd wait until you are finished adopting for sure.

My hubby is going to get each of my daughters' Chinese names on his forearms. I'm not too excited about it, but at least it's the girls' names and not a naked lady or something.

I lov your 25 things! And I just sent you a friend request on FB since I now know you are there.

Keep us posted on the tattoo brainstorm... I have one that I designed, it incorporates the kids. It's of a whimsical pink ladybug that I designed, holding three flowers, each in the kids' birthstone colors. It's about 2.5 x 2 inches, on my left upper arm.

Even though I still can't believe I have a tattoo (it's been 7 years), I'm strangely tempted to get another small one that symbolizes my faith.

Most people I know IRL don't believe I have a tattoo. Thank GOD I don't have it on my hips or thighs or butt or somewhere else they'd insist on seeing... If I looked like Angelina or yourself, on the other hand, that'd be a diff story... ha ha!!! ;)

Still brainstorming! Perhaps a Chinese symbol meaning "Faith". Hey, since I don't understand Chinese, what if I pick the wrong thing, and it actually says "I'm with Stupid..."??

Brandy said...

Okay I don't really get Facebook either. I've had a myspace forever and to me it's more user friendly, but I'm rarely on that either. This blogging thing takes all my time.

As for the get together...heck yeah!

And the tramp stamp...tell them to mind their own business and just do it! ~Well maybe say it a little nicer than that, but you get the picture~

I'm glad you did the list!!

An affair....HMMMM. Something to work on for you!!

We all need a little something something every now and again (did I really just tell you that :)

I'm excited to hear more about your writing class.....
