This morning at 6:24 I received a phone call: School was canceled due to inclement weather. Now you have to understand, one of the very best things about a snow day is sleeping in. Since I don't wake up until around 7:00 that means I got up 30 minutes early.
I wasn't optimistic after the start of the day, but I actually got a homemade mocha and a shower (yes Brandy I do shower sometimes) before the kids ever got up. The girls and Ryan found a cute Christmas movie to watch and I decided to take advantage of my free time and clean out my bathroom. Its a catch-all for everything since its so big. Later Ross came to find me and when he came in he announced: "Am I in the right room?"
I almost slapped him but then I'd have to blog about it and DFS would probably show up.
Okay, I admit that it looked much better than it did the day before. I'm so tired of all the mess I decided to start here and work my way out. My bathroom is now a black hole of cleanliness and the organized, neat, picked upedness is spreading out and sucking all the clutter in.
I wish.
I started working on my bedroom and that was the end of that for the day. The movie was over.
While the babies took their late naps the girls and I made Gingerbread Men. I made the dough, rolled it out, cut out the cookie and baked them. The girls, of course, wanted to help decorate. I was feeling like the Little Red Hen. I loved that story when I was little. It seemed so just that the Hen didn't share after having to do all the work. I never understood why all those animals didn't help her. Then I had kids. So why do I still share? Because I'm a push over. And a mom. Just call me Pushover Mom.
I baked about 40 Gingerbread men and the girls decorated this many, minus a few that were consumed, and then they were done. I still have about 30 cookies left to decorate. You can see they started elaborately and then were pretty much bare bones-- eyes and a mouth. Hey, Club Penguin was calling!
In the meantime, I found a nice surprise in the living room.
Someone, and I don't know which Terror Twin it was, but someone wrote on my ottoman with black Sharpie. I took both of them to the chair and pointed to it and said "No! No!" Yeah, like that's going to do any good, but it made me feel better.
After more Club Penguin, Webkinz web site and Disney channel than anyone should be forced to endure, I told the girls it was time to do something without electricity. Well, they could use the electric lights overhead, but nothing electronic. They got out these beaded ornament kits I got at Walmart the other night in the fun life experience. While sitting there I looked up and saw this:
My curtain rod is coming out of the wall and I'm pretty sure I know who did it, and it wasn't a Terror Twin. It was Ross. Earlier in the day, for some bizarre reason, he thought it would be fun to wrap himself up in the curtain. That's 2 strikes Ross. One more and your out!
The ornaments took longer to make than I expected so we ate dinner at the island. As I was cleaning up the kitchen when we were done I found this:
Emma's new favorite activity is to climb onto the kitchen table. She pulls out the chairs, takes off the cushion and climbs up. Of course, this was particularly bad considering all the sorted beads on the table. Not to mention the falling off and landing on her head, but the mixing of the sorted beads would obviously be much worse.
Even with all the adventure, it was still a pretty good day and there was one more bright spot-- I received my package from Debi's giveaway at The Journey Ahead and I have a nice clean bathroom to put it in! Thanks Debi!!! Be sure to head over there and enter her giveaways. She's giving something away everyday until Christmas!

Wow! That is some bathroom. Can I move in?
Sounds like you had a perfectly ordinary perfect day. I wish I knew of some secret recipe to get Sharpie out of upholstery.
I'm exhausted just reading that! I admire you I really do!
That is a fantastic bathroom!
We just got hit with some snow and I hope it keeps snowing so I can sleep in :)
My girls love Webkinz! I also played Webkinz to help them with points, until I discovered blogging:D
Bummer about the ottoman. I am sorry, I do not have any secrets to get that out.
wow that is one nice bathroom!! i am totally jealous!!!
Been there done that with the Sharpie on the couch. I have not found the magic cure yet....other than turning the cushions upside-down.
You'd better keep an eye on your climber! Miss Emma is doing to be your challenge. :-)
I gotta say, I am impressed! You got a lot done...even with all the kids home.
Well I'm sitting here with my chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and green tea for breakfast - laughing. Sorry. I do so remember those days. I hope the marker comes out of the cushion.
I also agree with Carey (and others) that your bathroom is fantastic. Heck I think its bigger than both my bathrooms PUT TOGETHER. I'm so jealous.
Yes, my bathroom is a monstrosity! Its probably the biggest bathroom I've ever had-- and I've lived in a lot of houses! It seems like a lot of wasted space though.
Its pretty plain right now and I'm really in the mood to spruce it and my bedroom up. But I really hate to paint (burnt out from so many houses) and money is a big issue. My bedroom windows need curtains. They are huge and let in tons of cold air at night. I need to get them covered.
We had the same couch issue a few weeks ago. I wish that I had a removal technique to offer you but alas nothing worked for me. I flipped the cushion.
http://food.aol.com/play-with-your-food/weird-uses-for-food Hi, I have this email saved, "Wierd uses for household foods", and I had to look at it the other day as my mother cut herself while sleeping w/ her own toenail and hit a veracose vein, good thing she's a light sleeper or she literally would have bleed to death, and good thing my sister, a nurse lives w/ her, so anyway, point to my story is I was looking at this over the weekend to see how she could get the blood out of her carpet, (the story I got was it looked like a bloody masacre). Anyway paste the link and try it, it's for ink from a pen, but it's pretty close, just don't know how you'll get the milk out of the ottoman when you're done??
Kim, sadly neither do I...
Denise...........I have bathroom envy!
Sounds like a hectic snow day.
Ouch on the Sharpie, I have no words of wisdom.
That's an impressive bathroom...wow! I feel reassured that you do make use of it. Sometimes.
I love your bathroom! What a fun day.
I have an award for you on my blog!
LOL- bathroom looks great.
I have the cure for the sharpie!!! We bought a couch with microfiber!! The sharpie came right out with a warm wet rag!! Also, I am totally JELOUS of the bathroom AND the snow day. We dont get them a lot and the kids go out to recess up to -10degrees F! Sigh...I am out of snowpants to lend out....one more day!!! Then no school for 2 weeks!! YIPPEE
Kathy, you read my mind! They have school today and there's snow on the ground so the kids have indoor recess. I was thinking to myself "I wonder what they do in Alaska where Kathy is?" Now I know!!!
I'm suppose to be "cleaning" my bathroom also right now, but some how I feel it is more fun to read about yours :)
Oddly enough, I'm supposed to be cleaning my bathroom as well. And oddly enough, it still isn't cleaned. Could it be because I've been blogging and reading blogs? *lol*
You've got an incredibly bathroom there! I'm all sorts of green with loo-envy! *lol*
