When you think of going off to college your freshman year, buying books is on the To Do list. But what isn't in the book buying plan is your younger brothers and sisters accompanying you. Unfortunately, there wasn't any other option.

Family Togetherness
Trace and Ross are attending the same community college for a number of reasons, some of which include money, degree offered, and previous grades. So it was logical to go buy their books together, especially since Mom was paying and really didn't want to make 2 trips. Coordinating work schedules was difficult but we finally found a day that we could all go together.

What family outing/college text book buying trip isn't complete without a family picture? Ross is done by this point. Emma just wants her Skittles. Ryan just wants Emma's Skittles.

Hey Denise.... have you heard of CampusI.com? They list all the places you can purchase said textbook online..Ebay, Amazon, Albris... and then you purchase them for much cheaper..I swear by it...My dd is in her 4th year and we usually save at least half on books if not more! You do have to plan ahead and have the ISBN or other info but hey...saving money is good! lol
ReplyDeleteI was also going to tell you about the online thing. I ordered my books online and am picking the stuff up today at the book store.( I also had a heart attack when I got my total, I have a post getting ready to come out about that!)
ReplyDeleteBut the family togetherness is OF COURSE nicer and more picture friendly!!
I remember when I was in college and had to buy my books. I was overwhelmed doing it on my own. I can't IMAGINE how much patience it bring all your kiddos on the trip. Wow!
ReplyDeleteToo funny on the whole Ross thing!! My oldest does this. Who knew that when your child turns 11 you instantly become stupid and uncool! It was an amazing transformation and it took no work on our part:o)!! Glad you are back I have missed your posts!!
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! It was probably bad enough for him that the whole family was there...but mom with the camera?! I love it. I will now have to follow my children off to college so that I can do this too :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I remember my trips to the book stores well! One of my nursing texts was 10lbs! Glad you got that done!
ReplyDeleteNow that's an adventure!
ReplyDeleteTrace is the only looking at the camera during the group pic. LOL! Ross is not only running but he's carrying Emma so he doesn't have to wait on her. Priceless.
ReplyDeleteAt least Ross is carrying Emma as he runs to the car...
ReplyDeleteBooks and candy...my kind of outing! But where are the boys' books in the last photos?
What an adventure! How sweet that your older ones really didn't make much of a fuss about the little ones being along.
ReplyDeleteOh Denise! All I can think of is TWO in college courses and TWO needing those expensive books!! OY!!
ReplyDeleteCan I come next time cause I LOVE Skittles!
